Richard Grey Masson Obituary

Grey Masson

March 15, 1957 – June 22, 2024

The "Greyt" Grey Masson (AKA “Greg Mason”), born in Ottawa, died in Carleton Place, in his 68th year. Peacefully, but unexpectedly, in his sleep, due to complications of pulmonary fibrosis. Many hearts are broken. His quirky sense of humour and kind spirit will be dearly missed by his family and wide circle of friends and business associates. Survived by his partner of 10 years, Moira Farr. Proud father of Jeff Masson (Ashley) and Kyle Masson. Loving Papa to Chloe and Cassie Masson. Beloved brother of Peter (Michelle), and Jennifer McLaurin (Dan). Predeceased by his parents, Bob and Jean Masson. Long-time co-owner of Kirby & Masson Insurance. Passionate member of the Ottawa Spurs, supporters of the Tottenham Hotspurs Football Club - COYS! He was also a dedicated member of Studio Theatre Perth for many years, acting, directing and serving on the board. A man of many Jerry Garcia ties for work and special occasions. After hours, he was a lover of British punk - in his late 50s, he drove from Ottawa to Toronto to see The English Beat perform, turned around and drove back home through the wee hours.

A visitation will be held Saturday, June 29, 2024, from 2-5 p.m. at the Barker Funeral Home in Carleton Place. A celebration of Grey’s wonderful life will take place on a later date, to be announced.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, Studio Theatre Perth, or a charity of your choice.
