Rita Victoria Taylor (nee Lavallée)
Rita was born in Curran Ontario on April 11th, 1925, and raised in Cornwall Ontario. She passed away peacefully in the small hours of Saturday, October 12th, 2024 at the age of 99.
Predeceased by her loving husband, Mel Taylor. Survived by children Richard Taylor (Wendy) and Willow Vokey (Graham). Dearly loved and respected by grandchildren Matthew Luloff (Laura) Victoria Luloff, Amy Luloff (Mathew), Lauren Taylor, Sarah Taylor (Rudy) and Brett Taylor, as well as 6 great- grandchildren; Michael, Peyton, Elizabeth (Libby), Madeleine (Maddie), Emerson and Hailey.
Rita had a wonderful and fulfilling career with the Federal Government. She was instrumental in the creation of the Employee Assistance Program at the Department of Indigenous and Northern Affairs. This allowed her the opportunity to travel to all Provinces as well as the Yukon and Northwest Territories.
The Taylors lived in Ottawa and spent summers on Mississippi Lake just outside Carleton Place until their retirement. They then lived at the lake April through October, and wintered in Florida for 27 wonderful years. While home in CP, Rita volunteered at the Carleton Place District and Memorial Hospital and in Florida at the Manatee Memorial Hospital in Bradenton.
Please join the family for a celebration of her life well lived on Friday October 25th, 2024, at the Barker Funeral Home, 19 McArthur Ave, Carleton Place, ON K7C 2W1. Visitation at 1:00pm followed by a service at 2:00pm. A light lunch will be served following.
