Bob Barber

Robert “Bob” John Barber, passed away in Constanta, Romania on Thursday, April 13, 2023, just shy of his 80th birthday. His last week of life was spent engaged in his favourite pastime, traveling the Danube with his beloved partner, Suzanne Mayrand.

Bob grew up in Carleton Place and was a long-time resident of Hay Shore. The Barber family will remember fondly the many family gatherings that took place “at the lake,” Bob’s home that had been his parents’ cottage.

Bob is predeceased by his parents, Elmer Alexander and Stella Findlay Barber of Carleton Place, and his sister Virginia Green. Bob is survived by his children, Julie (Darrin Murrell), Leigh, Jodi (Scott McNeely), Jonathan Lindsay (CJ). He will be greatly missed by his 12 grandchildren, nephew and nieces. 

A family gravesite service will be held at a later date.

Donations may be made to the Carleton Place and District Memorial Hospital.

Every year as April 25th approaches, his family will look to the lake to see if this would be the year Bob might have braved the ice to swim on his birthday.
