Robert Franklin (Rick) Richardson
Born on June 16, 1936 in Goldboro, Guysborough County, NS. Rick passed away in Perth on Sunday, July 28th, 2024 at the age of 88. He was the last surviving member of his large Richardson family of seven brothers and one sister. Rick was married and devoted to Colleen (Poe) for 66 years, who passed away in November, 2021. He was a father to three daughters, Deborah Cross, Julia Lockie (Dave) and Andrea Backhouse (Dave). Grandad to seven, Stephanie Cross (Chris Ling), Nicola Snow (Tony), Kevin Lockie, Hilary Hayduk (Nick), Robyn & Michael Panasiuk and Erica Percy (Alex). Great-Grandad to Shannon, Mya, Adrian, Penny, Bridget, Xavier and River.
Rick spent his career in telecommunications for 35 years. He was in the RCAF at Rockcliffe Air Base, Carp, overseas, and he was also with CSE in the Canadian Government until his retirement. He was an avid quilter and a member of the Lanark County Quilters Guild and North Street Quilters. He was a devoted member of the Perth Community Church, formerly St. Andrews Presbyterian Church.
Many thanks to the caring and supportive staff on the second floor, ICU and Palliative Care at the Great War Memorial Hospital in Perth. Thanks also to all of Dad’s many friends and church family who gave him comfort and company day and night during the last days of his journey.
A service will be held on Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the Perth Community Church, 1 Drummond Street West, Perth Ontario, followed by a light lunch. Interment will be held at Elmwood Cemetery.
