It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Ronald “Ronnie” Martin Edward Ward who departed this life peacefully in his sleep, at the Extendicare-Crossing Bridge Long Term Care Home in Stittsville, Ontario, on October 4, 2025, at the age of 81.
Ronnie was born on May 31, 1944 in Ventnor, Ontario. He is now reunited with his parents, Jesse Ward and Raymond Lavier, his daughter Nancy Running (Ray), his stepdaughter Karey Fournier (Andy) and his 6 sisters.
Ronnie will be dearly missed by his 2 sons Mark Ward (Annette) and RJ Ward, and his best friend Joan O’Brien.
Ronnie was blessed with many grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. From a young age, Ronnie demonstrated a passion for driving transport trucks. He was a skilled truck driver dedicating 50 years of his life driving all over Canada and the United States. He was a mentor to many drivers throughout his career. When he wasn’t driving trucks, he was busy fixing up old cars and trucks in his garage.
Ronnie will be remembered for his sense of humour, his many jokes, his lengthy visits and telephone conversations, and his many acts of kindness. Ronnie had a very big heart and would help anybody in need, at home or on the side of the highway.
We would like to express heartfelt thanks and sincere gratitude to the staff, PSW’s and doctors at Ontario Health at Home, Bayshore Health Care in Carleton Place, Lanark County Paramedic Services and the Extendicare-Crossing Bridge Long Term Care Home in Stittsville for their compassionate support and dedicated care.
In keeping with Ronnie’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. A private interment will take place at the Iroquois United Church Cemetery at a later date.
The family appreciates your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
Thank you, Lord, for guiding our loved one home. It sure is good to know that you are riding with him once again as he takes his last trip on the road that is paved in gold to Heavens Gates. We know Ronnie is at peace now and he’s okay.
When he entered Heaven’s Gates, he left us a final goodbye in trucker style. It reads “10-4! This is my 20 in 25” (October 4, 2025)
