Rui "Roy" Martins

MARTINS, Roy (Rui) 
Aug. 2, 1956 - Dec. 12, 2021

It is with great sadness that the family of Roy (Rui) Martins announces his passing on Sunday, December 12, 2021, at the age of 65 years in Ottawa, Ontario.  

Born in Lisbon, Portugal, Roy grew up in Montreal and his free spirit took him traveling across Canada several times.  He was trained as a cook which allowed him to travel freely out west and to northern Canada.  He lived in British Columbia for a while but finally settled in Ottawa the last ten years.  Roy also had a natural talent for painting and was a daily walker. 

Predeceased by his loving father Eric (Eurico) in September of 2020, Roy will be lovingly remembered by his mother Maria, brothers Paul (Christine) and Michael (Monica), nieces April, Olivia (Simon), Kelly (Scott) and Allana, nephews Gregg (Sonia) and Jesse and their families.  

Roy will also be greatly missed by his uncles Rogerio and Sebastiao, aunts Maria, Judite and Laura, cousins Isabel (Jean-Jacques), Roger, Elsa, Cristina, Paula, Dulce, Paula, Maria and their families.

We very much appreciate the friendship, support and kindness shown to Roy over the last several years by friends and staff of St. Luke's Anglican Church  (https://www.stlukesottawa.ca) and of the Somerset West Community Health Centre (https://www.swchc.on.ca).
