Sean O'Grady Obituary

Sean O'Grady

1971 - 2026

Sean O’Grady passed away at his home in Carleton Place on May 29, 2026 at the age of 54, following treatment for colon cancer.

Sean leaves behind his beloved wife, Karen, his children, Abby and Eddy, and his parents, Will and Jane. He will be deeply missed by his brothers, Mike and Bill, his in-laws, and his seven nieces, along with numerous relatives, friends, and colleagues.

He was predeceased by his grandparents, Frank, Eileen, Ed and Vera, uncles Des and Tom, aunt Ann Marie, and aunt Margie, for whom he was a devoted caregiver until her passing in August 2025.

Born in Toronto on September 29th, 1971, Sean was the pride of his parents as their first child, quickly revealing his cheerful demeanour and bright mind. He excelled in school and went on to pursue studies in systems design engineering at the University of Waterloo before settling down in Ottawa to raise his own family. He spent nearly 20 years with Solace Inc in Kanata, becoming an admired leader and mentor as Director of Quality Assurance.

Sean is remembered fondly as a lifelong lover of hockey and baseball. He treasured coaching his son’s childhood teams and hitting home runs for the Catcher’s in the Rye and Upper Deckers, often celebrated in the parking lot after games with a beer in hand. In his final years in Carleton Place, he enjoyed a quieter life away from the city, soaking up hours outdoors in his yard, working through his puzzle collection, and spending cherished time with loved ones.

A celebration of life will be held at Amberwood Lounge & Eatery (ALE, 54 Springbrook Dr.,Ottawa) on Sunday, June 28th from 1-4pm for all who wish to attend.
