It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Shirley Power on January 18th, 2025 at the age of 89 at Starwood surrounded by her family. Shirley was born and raised in Halifax and married her sweetie Brian in 1956. Loving mother of Dave (Lynn), Sandy (Simon), Dan and Sue (Kevin). Proud Nanny of Matthew, Wesley, Jennifer, Natasha, Bryanna, Brandon, Nathan, Adam and step grandson Matthew. Cherished G-Nanny of Logan, Aubrey, Conlin, Kalea, Scarlett, Ariella, and Kinsley. Shirley is survived by sister Rosie and brother Charles. Shirley was predeceased by her loving husband Brian, her parents Joseph and Margaret (nee Sampson) and brothers Lawrence, Martin, Harold, Aimable, Joseph, Prudent and sisters Helen, Edwina, Tilly and Mary.
Lovingly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, cousins and wonderful friends.
Special thanks to the amazing Staff at Starwood for their exceptional care they provided to Shirley over the past 5 years.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 24, 2025 at Barker Funeral Home, 19 McArthur Avenue, Carleton Place, Ontario from 11:00 a.m. – 12:45 p.m. Service will be held in the chapel at 1:00 p.m. with a reception to follow.
The Funeral Service will be live streamed on YouTube, to view the funeral go to YouTube and search "BarkerFH Shirley Power beginning at 12:55 p.m. Friday.
For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, donations to The Alzheimer's Society would be appreciated by the family.
