Wilfried "Wolf" Schwarz
We are deeply saddened to announce that Wilfried Schwarz passed away peacefully on February 20, 2026 at the age of 79.
Wilfried dedicated 33 years of his life to teaching History and French at Gloucester High School, where he inspired generations of students with his knowledge, wit, and passion for learning. Teaching was more than a profession to him — it was a calling, and he took great pride in shaping young minds and encouraging curiosity about the world.
His love of the world extended far beyond the classroom. Wilfried was an avid traveler who turned his passion into a second career as a part-time travel agent, helping others explore new places and cultures. He had a gift for bringing people together, whether by organizing memorable events or DJing at parties and weddings, where his energy and enthusiasm filled the room and the dance floor.
Wilfried was predeceased by his former partner, Lise, who was an important part of his life. He will be deeply missed by his loving family: his brothers Klaus Schwarz (Betty Anne) and Horst Schwarz (Sandy); his daughters Christine Schwarz (Paul) and Sue Leeson (Rob); his cherished granddaughter Caitlin; and his nephews Chris Schwarz (Denise) and Matt Ladouceur (Karine).
He also leaves behind his beloved dog, Sheba, his loyal companion and faithful friend, who was rarely far from his side and brought him daily comfort, companionship, and unconditional love.
He will be remembered for his warmth, generosity, vibrant spirit, and his lifelong love of history, language, music, and travel.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Wilfried’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. A Celebration of Life will be held in May. Details will be shared later.
