William Taylor Obituary

William Taylor

May 5, 1945 - August 19, 2025

It is with our deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of William Taylor at home on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, with his wife of 53 years and family by his side. He will be truly missed by his wife Teresa, his daughter Helena (Patrick Perrier), his granddaughters Breanna and Abigail, his son Chris, and his surviving siblings Ruth (Adrian Roberts), Ray (Joanne), Lois (Raymond McEwen) and Bonnie (late Tommy Cole). He will be missed by many nieces, nephews and countless friends. Predeceased by his daughter Lee-Ann Taylor, his parents Elmer and Helen Taylor, sisters Evelyne and Carolyn.

Billy, as he was known to everyone, was both a hard-working man and a practical joker. He loved his job as a pipefitter. So much so that he would take any overtime shift he could and even retired twice and then went back to work. Through his 40+ years, it would be hard to find a gas company worker in Ottawa that didn’t know him. When he wasn’t working on the pipeline he would be working hard on his home. Either doing another upgrade that Teresa wanted or planting flowers like petunias (that she really didn’t like). He loved going fishing, although his boat didn’t see enough water under it as he would have liked. And those that knew him well also know that Billy would never pass up the opportunity to jump and scare someone, ask questions with funny answers or anything else that would make him smile while making someone else scream (those that remember the Christmas with “the pen”, remember it well).

We all know the most important thing to Billy was his family. There was always an open invitation for people to drop by and you never left hungry. Work, home or the love of the Leaf’s, were always a close second depending on the season.

The Taylor family would like to extend their greatest appreciation for all the nurses and doctors that helped him throughout his battles with multiple health issues. A particular heartfelt thank you is extended to the nursing team at the Civic Hospital Dialysis Unit. You were always considerate of our Bill and made him feel cared for each and every visit.

Your donations to the Civic Dialysis Unit would be most appreciated.

Family and friends are invited to join "Billy's" family for a graveside service at United Cemeteries, Cemetery Sideroad, Carleton Place on Saturday, August 30th. 2025 at 1 pm. with a celebration of life to follow at the Taylor family home.
