William Southwell
Of Carleton Place, at the age of 70, passed away peacefully at the Carleton Place & District Memorial Hospital on Sunday, May 10th 2026, after a brief battle with cancer.
Bill was loving father of Sasha Lanktree (Mike), Cory Southwell (Amy), Veronica Scott (Kevin) and William Southwell. He was the proud grandfather of Kevin, Haylea, Christina, Hudson, Carter, Lexi, Greyson, Kaya, Makayla, Keio, Brody, Levi. Great-grandfather to Alice, Maysen, Evelynn, Bennett, and Dawson.
He was a cherished brother of Ken Southwell (Jerry), Millie Rivington (Randy), Robbie Aitkenhead (Marianne), Candy Aitkenhead (Al). Predeceased most recently by brother Larry Aitkenhead (Joy Roberts-surviving) Predeceased by his loving parents George Southwell and Robert & Elva Aitkenhead. Also loved by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews as well as many cousins. He will be missed by brother-in-Law Donnie Lee. Sadly missed by his special friends Pat, Al, and Christina.
Bill worked as a tow truck driver for many years, as a brick layer, and at Kott Lumber, just to name a few.
He was a #1 Toronto Maple Leaf fan. His passions were hockey, music, singing, playing guitar, partying with family and friends, bowling, darts, playing Yhatzee, euchre, and playing golf. He was a member of the Scottish Glen Golf Course.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Wednesday May 20th at the Barker Funeral Home, 19 McArthur Avenue, Carleton Place from 12 noon until 3pm. A celebration of Bill's life to follow from 3pm until 6pm at the Army, Navy & Air Force, 315 Townline Road East, Carleton Place. Donations can be made to the Carleton Place & District Memorial Hospital Foundation or the Carleton Place and District Civitan Club.
